Typically a shower is held 1 to 2 months before the due date to allow breathing room in the case of an early arrival. What do you do? In many cases, guests of a babyshower may only know the expecting parents. So often times games or group activities are used break the ice and allow the guests an opportunity to get to know one another and engage in fun interaction. During a typical two hour shower, three or four games are generally played. An example of a popular baby shower games is "Baby Bingo." In this game, each guest is given a unique Baby Bingo Card with a grid of baby items. Guests listen to clues given by the hostess and mark off the proper square. In this game, men are paired up against the women and the two sides race to be the first to match famous TV shows and movies to actors or actresses who starred in them. It is also customary that some form of food is served. Not typically a meal, but food one can snack on such as appetizers or desserts. It is customary that guests invited to the shower bring a gift for the new baby. Sometimes this may just be essentials that parents need such as formula or diapers, especially if the shower is not for the parents first born. After the gifts have all been opened, the games are over, and the food consumed, guests will typically mingle for a bit making sure to thank the host before departing. Most showers can be expected to last around two hours.
