Baby Shower  Games from our readers

Sooo good-  When the happy parents-to-be open their gifts, the hostess or assigned guest writes down the couple's reactions: (for example) "Oh, this one is sooooo crazy looking", "they respond to this type best I heard", "oh, it's just as soft as it looks", "What are you supposed to do with this thingee?" "Hey sweetie, check THIS out" "How does it work?"... quotes like this.

When the gift giving is done, the next "game" is to read back the couples reactions, under the premise,
"This is what the happy couple said to each other the night that the baby (his/her name if the parents know it already) was conceived.

Guess this works best at a couple's shower

It is really hysterical with the right group!

Win theCenterpiece.-  To win the centerpiece we passed out 8x10 pieces of paper, we bought them with baby border around them but any paper will do. We asked each guest to draw on the paper what the new baby will look like and put their name on the back. We had the mother-to-be pick out which one she liked the best at each table for the centerpiece and then she keeps all of them as keepsakes. Most of them were extremely funny, not too many serious ones. The mother-to-be was screaming laughing trying to pick out the best at each table. It turned out to be a great game.

Baby Names - The hostess had gone to some trouble on this one. She took the first names of everyone invited to the shower and placed them in one column on a piece of paper. She then had looked up the original meanings of everyone's name and placed those in the second column in random order. The guests were then given about 10 minutes or so to try and figure out which meanings went with which names (a bit more cerebral than many of us had anticipated for a baby shower!) After giving the correct links, the person with the most right was given a prize.

Baby Diaper Pin Games

Pin Drop - take turns having each guest stand over a baby bottle and drop diaper pins from their nose into the bottle. Bottles tend to tip over so you might want to hold the bottle or weigh it down with coins. The person who gets the most pins in the bottle wins. If you have a tie, you can have each person who tied alternate one then the other. First one to miss the bottle loses. The mother-to-be gets to take home the baby bottle and the diaper pins.
