"3 Steps to Evaluate a Product"

Experience is always good to rely upon. Any success story
has at its root a person with knowledge and passion for the
product they are promoting. Does this product interest you
and would you actually use it? How long is the product
expected to last? Do you personally know anyone that uses
the product?

Scrapbook supplies are an excellent example to examine in
detail. The allure of scrapbooks and the supplies used to
make them has been climbing steadily for the past few
years. You have no problem finding article after article
that provides information on locating and making
scrapbooks. Now, if you yourself can imagine people that
you know who would be interested in their own scrapbooks,
then it is probably a safe product to investigate further.

Listen to your friends and family opinion of a product.
Request product brochures from your supplier and pass them
onto your family and friends. Ask them to give you an
honest opinion on the price, quality, or warranty of the
product. Is this something they would use?

Remember that you are not consulting with your friends and
family in order to solicit their business. You are more
interested in an accurate and honest evaluation of the
product than in securing a few sales. This is market
research and you just want to know what people are looking
for and these people are the ones most likely to give you
an honest answer. You can even generate a brief
questionnaire for them to answer about the item in
question.

Try working with the company. They are the ones most
likely to know how well their product does in the
marketplace. Do not hesitate to ask them for their market
analysis as they no doubt performed plenty of it prior to
launching the product. You are especially interested in
the demographic data of the target audience so that you
have a good idea who you need to market the product to.

An informed opinion about the product's potential in the
marketplace and value is possible after you have gathered
all the information possible. All you really need to know
now is if there is a real need for this product in the
marketplace so do not rush into making a decision prior to
bringing all of your tools to bear analyzing the item.
